Project 1 - Create a Ritual

Tea Ritual

I begin my ritual of having a cup of tea each morning by reaching for my Stelton stainless steel teapot. I purchased this particular teapot about eight years ago in Chicago as my first item of good design by Arne Jacobsen. Each time I reach for the handle of this teapot I am reminded of how perfectly it fits in my hand and how the stainless steel cylinder is produced in a seamless way. I feel honored to own this pot. Having a cup of tea in mindfulness is an important practice. From the moment of touching the handle, pouring the hot water, smelling the tea brewing, I am reminded to slow down in mindfulness, feel the experience, and contemplate the small moments of beauty surrounding me. During those few minutes I can be very happy. I do recommend having your tea in silent to savor the moment without distraction. Do not quickly sip the tea while you are walking through the house, hurrying to go, flipping pages of the newspaper, and so on, have the tea to simply have some tea. After these quiet moments, which can be quite precious in the day, I get up with a smile and greater understanding.
